Bilbao, the capital of the Basque Country, hosted this year representatives of the wind energy industry during its annual exhibition.

The Spanish autonomous region is a great example of regional transformation. It hosts more than 100 companies from the sector, including Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and Iberdrola.

The annual wind energy industry conference and exhibition organised by WindEurope (https://windeurope.org/confex2019/) were held on 2-4 April.

The event, with the leading motto “Delivering a clean economy for all Europeans”, was held in the capital of the Basque Country, Bilbao. Polish Wind Energy Association was represented by part of its team, led by President Janusz Gajowiecki and Vice-President, Wojciech Cetnarski.

Silesa – the industrial heart of Poland may become a wind energy hub

Our stand hosted many national and foreign representatives of the wind energy industry. In response to the substantial interest in the outlook for onshore and offshore wind in the Polish market, PWEA organised an event dedicated to the current opportunities onshore and offhsore in Poland for entities from the entire supply chain https://windeurope.org/confex2019/ and prepared a special brochure together with K&L Gates.  The speakers included:  Krzysztof Kidawa, CEO of Baltic Power; Paweł Przybylski from Siemens Gamesa, who represented the PWEA Offshore Workgroup; Szymon Kowalski from PGE Energia Odnawialna; and Karol Lasocki from KL Gates. The event, attended by several dozen participants, was crowned with a debate with the speakers held by PWEA President, Janusz Gajowiecki.

An important Polish accent in Bilbao was the speech by Minister Michał Kurtyka, the current COP President, during the „Investing in people: delivering a just energy transition for all Europeans” session, who presented a paper entitled „The Polish way to a just energy transition”.
